Co-Owner Otto Beatty Speaks at Small Business Conference

Co-Owner of E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Otto Beatty had the privilege to speak at the 10th annual Mayor’s Small Business Conference & Expo on October 3rd. The conference gathers small business executives from across the city of Columbus. The theme of the conference is Go Forward: Driving Local Economic Growth through Small Business Inclusion and Sustainability.

Mayor Michael B. Coleman leads the proceedings and uses the conference as a “special time to acknowledge the contributions that minority and female businesses make to our community as we celebrate the 200th birthday of the City of Columbus.”

The conference provides attendees an opportunity to gain insight about a variety of topics relative to operating a small business in Columbus. In the breakout sessions, attendees follow a “track” that cover related topics.

Otto had the opportunity to speak on a panel entitled Access Capital & Build Financial Capacity. In this session, program speakers provide participants with knowledge on how to access supportive financial services and requirements including; financing and loans, credit, bonding, city incentives, technical assistance, and much more.

Keena Smith, member of the conference’s planning committee asserted, “E.E. Ward provided great value to other participants through Otto’s remarks as a peer mentor during the Access to Capital panel. We appreciate E.E. Ward’s participation and commitment to mentoring diverse and small business owners.”

Otto enjoyed his time at the conference and had this to say about his active participation, “Brian and I are passionate about helping other business by sharing our past experiences so it was great opportunity to do so by participating in the panel discussion as a peer mentor.”
