E.E Ward has your Back with these Sparkler Safety Tips for Children

Fireworks can be dangerous, but Independence Day would not be the same without them.

Sparklers tend to be the go to for those who are too young to handle fireworks and we all have young ones in the family that we love to see enjoy themselves but at the same time, are scared of them. Honestly a small fear of fire may be a good thing because at the end of the day, you want them to enjoy the sparklers safely. Fireworks are dangerous so if you have any concerns its best to test it out BEFORE you let the young ones have a go. Making the sparkler shields are very simple, all you need is a red Solo cup.
- Poke a small hole in the center of the cup bottom and insert the sparkler so that the burning end is outside of the cup and the handle wire is inside the cup.
- Light the sparkler and enjoy.
- Make sure the burning end of the sparklers remains OUTSIDE the cup.
- Make sure children are holding the end of the handle against the inside bottom of the cup so the cup can’t slip down and allow the sparkler to burn inside the cup.
- If you are worried that your kids can’t keep the sparkler outside the cup bend the wire so that it can’t slip inside the cup.
- When the sparkler is done burning, hold onto the outside of the cup with the other hand and release the sparkler above a bucket of water Don’t touch the hot end of the sparkler!
