Columbus Mover, E.E. Ward is excited to announce that our Laps for Learning Swim-A-Thon was a huge success. With the help of our sponsors and participants, we were able to raise $17,400 which will result in us sending 232 local children to water safety classes.
Laps For Learning was a swim event in which participants collected donations from sponsors based on how many laps they pledged to swim.
Funds were raised by participants through pledges for laps swam, as well as donations from our sponsors. We would like to thank Grainger, Fire and Focus, First Merchants Bank, and SKAFCO for sponsoring our cause.
Water safety is an issue for many Ohio youths, especially in the summer months. Ohio’s summer drowning rate goes up by 115%.
This event pays homage to the late Eldon Ward, who had a strong passion for swimming and givin prizes, and awards to celebrate the participants.
E.E. Ward is looking forward to next year’s Laps For Learning in 2018!
