Twitter as a Professional Tool
Often referred to as a free “microblogging platform”, Twitter is an information gathering, social networking tool that businesses and individuals alike use in the professional world.
As the online editorial Education World writes, “140 characters or less” is, in fact, worth more than 140 characters of meaning. Twitter is a community of shared ideas and resources, a place to network with other professionals in and outside of the workplace, and a realm of new ideas. For example, educators say that when they’re at a loss of what to write for a teaching outline, they often turn to Twitter for answers. Even when searching for teaching techniques that are proven to work or looking for successful solutions to issues in the classroom, teachers turn to Twitter to see what’s trending.
This online network is no different for any businessman or woman not in the education field. Twitter expands your current knowledge by connecting you with people from around the world in chat sessions or short blurbs where you don’t even have to leave your computer to find what you’re looking for.
Twitter exposes individuals to relevant article links from people they or others follow in addition to relevant information being retweeted on your timeline.
You can follow anyone ranging from your mentors, other colleagues, or even friends. But the beauty of Twitter is not just the social enhancement but the business professional one as well.
The world is changing. Let’s do something about it!
