Don’t forget to tie your shoes!
E.E. Ward North American is proud to say that it recently participated in The African-American Wellness Walk in Columbus.
The Walk is in its 8th year and has grown substantially since its inauguration in 2004. The purpose is to bring awareness to the fact that African-American men are dying at an alarming rate from many health-related causes that are preventable. In addition to awareness, organizers hope to encourage participants to visit with their physicians on a more frequent basis.
Co-Owner Otto Beatty enjoyed the walk and weather. He had this to say pertaining to his experience with the annual event, “I was inspired to walk when a friend of mine and Columbus Movers EE Ward, Mr. Eric Carmichael, passed away earlier that week. Eric died due to many health problems that plague men in our community. Eric lived less than 50 years, but impacted many. Many of us walked for Eric that day.”
E.E. Ward meets and moves many in the Columbus community and enjoys any opportunity to reconnect and engage with the people of the city. The African-American Male Wellness Walk was a wonderful experience for the company and an event that embodies the values at E.E. Ward. Tradition rooted in trust and support are at the core of E.E. Ward and this event gives that same support to the community.
