Suzy from Suzy’s Helping Hands Talks Downsizing with E.E. Ward

For the past nine years, Suzy Smith, founder of Suzy’s Helping Hands, has been helping seniors from all over central Ohio with the difficult process of downsizing and moving on to their next step. For Suzy, this job is a blessing.

Suzy is an ex-retailer and a self-proclaimed army brat who began to organize and clean homes in order to start her business. She was a buyer for 25 years and when there were no more buying jobs left, she began to organize closets and pack homes, with her numerous qualifications including the many times she had moved throughout her childhood years as an army brat. Starting this business was the next logical step for her, though it took time, hard work, and perseverance for her to get to where she is today. One of her first clients suggested E.E. It’s all about the client.”

Suzy offered a helpful tip that she often tells her clients when it comes to downsizing: “if you haven’t used it in two years, or worn it in two years, get rid of it.” Though Suzy understands that this is often easier said than done, which is where she comes in to help ease the stress and burden of downsizing. “The key to all the downsizing is going through all of their memories and making sure we captivate them… because when you move a client, you’re moving their heart and soul.”
