Throughout the month of June, the Eldon Ward Laps For Learning Swim-A-Thon took place. Laps For Learning raised money to provide children with safety around water classes in the form of donations and pledges from the number of laps swam by participants.
Laps For Learning concluded with a finale swim relay and celebration on June 30 at the Eldon & Elsie Ward YMCA. This year, Laps For Learning raised $12,075.00, which resulted in the ability to provide 161 “Safety Around Water” swim lessons. Water safety is a major concern in Ohio, with youth drownings increasing by 119% during the summer months. By providing 161 children with water safety lessons, Laps For Learning helps to reduce the number of youth drownings.
E.E. Ward wants to thank all our sponsors, First Merchants Bank, King Business Interiors, Fundermax Fitness, Skafco, and participants for helping to make 2018 Laps For Learning a success. We look forward to growing the fundraising effort and provide even more children with swim lessons in the future.
