It’s not too late to register for the 3rd annual Franklin County Youth Lemonade Day! Youth Lemonade Day is a free, community-wide entrepreneurial education program developed to teach youth (ages 5-18) how to start, own and run their own business. In order to register a youth only needs an adult mentor to sign them up online or during one of the on-site registration dates.
After registering, the youth can attend workshops to teach them entrepreneurial skills and are given advice and guidance on how to run their stand when the day comes on July 18th, 2015. This guidance includes working with their parents, teachers, business mentors, community and organization leaders, coaches and others through a 10-step guided curriculum that takes them from a “dream to reality.”
At the workshops the youth will also receive a permit and a yellow backpack with two booklets, one entrepreneur booklet for the youth that contains 10-steps to starting a business and one booklet for the adult who will work with the youth to prepare for Youth Lemonade Day that contains helpful business information and lessons to help the youth work through at their own pace. Also inside the backpack is information related to how to build a lemonade stand, marketing tips, healthy lemonade recipes, public safety information and a material voucher for buying a lemonade stand kit from Lemonade Day partners.
Columbus movers E.E. Ward Moving and Storage have been proud sponsors of Lemonade Day since its inception in 2013. Our owner, Brian Brooks, has even taught workshop sessions to the youth participants in the past. The hope is that Franklin County Youth Lemonade Day will help to inspire young children and teach them business skills they can carry with them throughout life.
