4 Tips for Packing your Book Collection
Use smaller boxes: Most books are lightweight, but that weight adds up when you pack a box full of them. Use smaller boxes to keep the box from becoming too heavy. You don’t want to hurt yourself when moving them to your 1-800-PACK-RAT unit!
Reinforce your boxes: It would be a good idea to reinforce the bottoms of the boxes with tape after you have assembled them to make sure the bottom does not give way under the weight of the books.
Watch the paper: You can pack your books in the box just like you would put them on your shelf. You can also stack them. What you don’t want to do is pack them with the spines up and the paper down. This can cause unwanted damage.
Take special care with valuable books: If you have first editions or books that have special value or monetary worth, it would be wise to wrap these books with packing paper and pad the extra space in the box with a towel or packing peanuts.
