Thanks to the YWCA Family Center’s partnership, we were able to raise 2,885 lunches where 1/3 of the profit will go toward the YWCA and their funding needs.
Laps for Lunches supports the YWCA Family Center by providing the families with their most basic need: FOOD.
Thanks to the opening of another shelter in the Columbus area, the YWCA Family Center is no longer the only shelter in the city. Because of this, the facility is able to provide a higher quality of life to not only the families but their staff as well. This means more attention, time, and resources helping them support a max capacity of 55 families.
The 11 year old YWCA’s services include child care, resume review, budget and lease holding classes, support groups, and supplying each family with an advocate who helps document their immediate needs and goals.
Within the first two days at the center, the families have access to whatever items they may need. But from that point on, they follow an earn program where if they go above and beyond their responsibilities, they can gather up points to redeem for items they may need.
Thanks to community donations, the YWCA can feed their families three meals a day; however, when those who have signed up cancel, the YWCA can tap into the Laps for Lunches funds to make sure they have what they need for each meal.
We’re so excited to be a part of the YWCA’s programming this year, and we’re happy Laps for Lunches could help feed families in Franklin County at the YWCA Family Center.
