My name is Pete Pajor, E.E. Ward’s newest summer intern. I am a rising junior at the University of Alabama, where I am studying public relations and Spanish. Although I go to school down south, I was born and raised here in Columbus and I’m very excited to be back for the summer working for E.E. Ward. When people hear that I attend Bama they usually respond with surprise and ask why; as such I’ll give a little background on my choice. During my senior year of high school I knew that I wanted to leave the state for school, but I wasn’t sure exactly where I wanted to go. One day in the fall, I received a letter from Bama inviting me to a banquet honoring myself and other central Ohio students for our scholastic achievements in high school. While I wasn’t really considering Bama for school, their presentation was very convincing so I decided to apply. A couple of weeks later I found out that not only was I accepted, but I was the recipient of a generous scholarship. At that point I still wasn’t really considering Bama, but I decided to go down for a campus tour anyway. In addition to the weather (snowy in Ohio, 75 and sunny in Alabama), the campus was gorgeous, the people were friendly, the facilities were superb and the academics were exactly what I was looking for. Needless to say, I was hooked. The next Monday I sent in my deposit and I was officially a member of the Crimson Tide.
I love everything about life at Bama, and I am involved in several organizations that have made my two years here awesome. I have worked as a photographer for the school newspaper, where I have covered everything from football games to rallies to guest speakers. I hold the promotions chair position for the Alabama chapter for the Society of Professional Journalists and I am also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and the Public Relations Council of Alabama. Additionally, I was just recently appointed the Director of Communications for the Senate of the Alabama Student Government Association, an opportunity I am very excited about.
Throughout my time at Bama every professor has repeated that internships are crucial for gaining experience and developing skills, and as such I am thrilled to begin here at E.E. Ward. My official title is marketing intern and my duties include managing our social media sites, updating website content, writing for our blog, generating sales reports and serving as a general ambassador for the company at expos, events and other functions. I’m very excited to begin work and I look forward to everything that awaits me this summer.
