Columbus mover E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Company used horses to help people move back in 1881. In 2015, it used more than a century’s worth of experience to move thousands of horsepower for Richard Petty Motorsports.
Owned by the driver with more NASCAR wins than anyone in history, Richard Petty Motorsports handpicked E.E. Ward to move the team’s entire 45,000-square-foot shop in Concord, North Carolina to a space twice the size in Mooresville, N.C. While the move was just 20 miles, it proved to be a project several months in the making.
“It took more than 40 team members to make this move possible,” said Brian Brooks, President, E.E. Ward. “It was the project of a lifetime.”
Brooks said the E.E. Ward team loaded 24 trailers. Each weighed approximately 40,000 pounds. After eight days and 56 pizzas for the crew, the team moved all of the following items on time and on budget.
“It was an easy choice for us to work with E.E. Ward and northAmerican Van Lines,” said Sammy Johns, Director of Competition for Richard Petty Motorsports. “Their reputation for their commercial and residential moving services is second to none.”
“This move epitomized the capabilities of E.E. Ward and Richard Petty Motorsports. It was quality work with attention to detail that was also fast-paced, like living life by a stopwatch,“ added Brooks.
As a thank you for a job well done, E.E. Ward and its partner, northAmerican Van lines, will have three opportunities to do something never done in the 134-year history of E.E. Ward.
“E.E. Ward moves more than 2,000 homes and businesses a year,” Brooks said. “To move and partner with a sports legend like Richard Petty is an experience we’ll never forget.”
