Food insecurity is a growing problem in central Ohio, where food insecurity rates are higher than the national average. Of the 1,951,880 food insecure Ohioians, 211,309 live in Franklin county. Between 2009 and 2010, the number of food insecure Ohioians nearly doubled from 8.5% to 16.4%, the largest increase in food insecurity in any state since 1998.
69% of Ohioians seeking assistance report having to choose between utilities and food. 39% of food insecure senior citizens report choosing between medication and food.
So what can you do?
