On May 16th, In Christy’s Shoes held their 11th annual Sole Celebration charity event at the Signature Airplane Hanger. In Christy’s Shoes collaborates with nonprofits to provide funds and awareness for programs that support women. These programs target areas like homelessness, unemployment, domestic abuse, substance abuse, human trafficking, and brain cancer.
In Christy’s Shoes was founded in memory of Christy Peters, who lost her battle with brain cancer at age 33. Christy’s twin sister and two of her friends wanted to honor her spirit of giving back and her love of shoes.
Katrina Levy Zidel, Executive Director for In Christy’s Shoes said “This years In Christy’s Shoes Sole Celebration Fundraising Event held at the Signature Flight Support was the largest in attendance to date with over 600 Guests. The theme, ‘Life is a canvas and YOU are the artist’ brought inspiration, innovation and lots of expression all for the greater good of raising funds for programs that support women. […] The highlight of the evening was the fashion show which spotlighted local artists who infused their personal creativity and style onto the clothing.”
The Sole Celebration combines fundraising and shoe fashion to help raise funds for programs. This years theme – “Life Is A Canvas & You Are The Artist” included a Silent Auction with an emphasis on art, a shoe fashion show and unique apparel collection created by local artists. A Live Auction with 100 Bags that sold out in a matter of 10 minutes because of the added “surprise & delight” items from Store 5a, DSW & Minka’s Furs and fabulous food donated from restaurants all over Columbus. The Fabulous Karina Nova from WBNS-10TV News emceed the event and the fashion show was opened by two remarkable guest speakers Judge Laurel Beatty Blunt and Megan Kilgore.
