E.E. Ward Supports Franklin County Special Olympics

On June 9th the Franklin County Special Olympics partnered with Land-Grant Brewing Co. for a fun day filled with great beer and great people for a great cause. The Franklin County Special Olympics is for adults with developmental disabilities who want to participate in recreational sports games. Supported by the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the Special Olympics events include basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Team Bowling, Unified Golf, Softball, swimming, dancing, bowling, etc.

E.E.Ward’s Vice President Randy Weinstein has had a close relationship with the organization for years. “I’ve known of Special Olympics for many years.  I had an Aunt with Down Syndrome that was active in Special Olympics for several years.  I also have a nephew with Down Syndrome who bowls in the Special Olympics. My oldest daughter volunteered as a Special Olympics tennis coach while she was in high school. Special Olympics is always looking for volunteer coaches and assistants.  Being able to work with the Special Olympic athletes and staff is rewarding in so many ways.”

E.E.Ward was proud to support this year’s Gear Drive at the Land Grant Brewery which had live music, Ray Ray’s BBQ food truck, Beer, and Outdoor games for the whole family. It was wonderful to see so many people come out to support Special Olympics and donate their used sporting equipment. The gear drive event may be over, but the organization is always looking for great volunteers and accepting sporting gear donations at their administrative building at 2879 Johnstown Road. Additionally,  monetary donations are accepted for the support of year-round sports programs serving over 500 athletes who participate in the Franklin County Special Olympics.
