At E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Co., we are experts in moving and storage. Among our many services, we also provide portable storage units through our affiliation with PackRat. Together we have learned many lessons that we like to share that can be useful to our customers. So it’s our pleasure to share with you what we’ve learned about making your next move as painless as possible! We often focus on the move itself, including great insider tips about planning your move using tried-and-true checklists or PackRat’s new online moving tools. Today, we’ll focus on what three items you should be sure to have on hand at the new location.
1. Temporary Shades: Whether you are moving into a rental unit or a new space of your home, it’s likely the windows won’t be covered. Most of us don’t like the neighbors getting a view of the house, so be sure to count up the number of windows (and even doors or sidelights) that will require covering and have enough fabric or sheets on hand to cover them.
2. Tool Box: Trust us, you’ll thank us for this later! Keep your toolbox available and easily accessible. Although our drivers carry toolboxes for setting up beds and furniture, you’ll likely need additional items from your own toolbox to set up (see item 1) or to fix up as you move in.
3. Step Stools and Light Bulbs: E.E. Ward and 1-800-PACK-RAT have all of the packing supplies you need, but you’ll likely also need to reach high places or even replace/install light bulbs. Have a stool available and a fresh supply of light bulbs so you are not in the dark at your new location!
