Each year, more than 500 German Village friends and neighbors gather for an evening of cocktails, fine dining and exclusive tours of more than a dozen private homes and gardens. Since 1960, every last Sunday in June the German Village Haus und Garten Tour has showcased the charms of this historic neighborhood. This year the classic tradition was represented to the public without exception. On Sunday, visitors were invited for this day-long celebration of renowned designs, enchanting gardens and award-winning restorations. As one of the sponsors, E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Co. is happy to share in the satisfaction of visitors and residents in the Haus und Garten tour.
As an E.E. Ward intern, I was invited to attend this exciting event. I have to say the whole tour of the artistic German Village really amazed me. There were 15 stops at houses that tourists could explore and among them, different styles inside each house could be seen. For example, as a pet person, my favorite was stop “4”. This particular German Village home is an urban pet’s dream. It features special doggie digs— a shower in the mudroom, food and water bowls set into a granite countertop and food and treat drawers built into the kitchen cabinetry. One of the owners is an architect from New York City, who developed the design in his big bright home studio. Thus it’s not surprising to see all the subtle details of the interior structure. The owners are obviously a super fans of traveling which could be seen by all the Asian and European themed decor. In another fantastic house at the stop “1”, I found a totally different style with its minimalist style and sweet swimming pool at the back yard.
In a short, I am proud to be a member of the sponsor company, E.E. Ward, and to enjoy the beauty of the historical German Village legacy. I feel that everybody has an obligation to help protect monuments and promote the concept of social responsibility like E.E. Ward and all of the other sponsors do.
