As you begin the packing process for your move, you will realize that many items are not safe to pack. Some of these items are often too hazardous for our E.E. Ward Moving & Storage team to transport them.
Movers are forbidden by law to ship or store the following items:
Gases: This includes aerosol cans, fire extinguishers, engine starting fluid, welding gas, butane, & propane tanks (propane tanks cannot be shipped even if they are empty)
Combustible Liquids: This includes alcohol, antifreeze, camphor oils, and disinfectant cleaners
Corrosive Liquids: Including drain cleaners, photographic acids, wet cell batteries, etching acid, iron/steel rust preventing compound, muriatic, and nitric or sulfuric acid
Explosives: Including matches, black powder ammunition, fireworks of any kind, dynamite or plastic explosives (including toy caps), flashbulbs, and primers
Flammable Items: Including adhesives, ammonia, charcoal lighter fluid, weed killers, bleach, gasoline, paints, varnish inks, and dyes
We also recommend that you speak with your E.E. Ward Relocation Coordinator about the alternative arrangements for the following items or that you consider transporting them with you:
Currency/Money
Frozen/Perishable Foods
Plants– Plants usually won’t survive the move, and they could possibly cause an insect infestation of your goods or other goods on the truck. We recommend that you give away plants or transport them yourself
Stamp and/or Coin Collections
Furs
Medications
Frozen Foods– Since these goods are highly perishable, it is recommended that you consume or give away these items prior to your move
