E.E. Ward Declares DownSize Columbus a Huge Success

The time, effort, and careful planning that went into creating DownSize Columbus were apparent during the success of the event on Friday, May 23. The event highlighted certain different aspects of downsizing, including selling and staging a home, as well as the financial aspects of the move. Thirteen other award-winning service providers attended the event alongside co-sponsors E.E. Ward Moving & Storage and Suzy’s Helping Hands. The event took place at Dublin Community Center and featured a delicious lunch catered by Feasts from the Pantry.

The keynote presenters for the event were Kathy Chiero from Keller Williams Greater Columbus Realty and James Roehrenbeck from Remax Town Center. Chiero presented about the real estate end of downsizing in her presentation “Pieces of the Downsizing Puzzle,” in which she discussed the emotional component of selling a house and the different components that go into being ready to sell your home. Luckily for those looking to sell their homes, Chiero capitalized on the fact that we are currently in a seller’s market.

Nancy Dreyer from Columbus ASP Stagers discussed the “Benefits of Home Staging and How it Helps You Sell” which emphasized how home staging optimizes your home’s potential and accentuates your home’s features. Home staging also, according to Dreyer, shortens the home’s sales time and increases its sale price, among many other benefits.

The next presenter was William J Browning, a founding partner of Browning, Meyer & Ball, LPA in Columbus. Browning offered legal advice for this real estate move and presented many options that could serve as alternatives to moving straight from a multi-story home to a retirement center.

The final presenter was Debbie Allen from Apple Tree Auction Center, a company that offers fair market value for any items you may need to get rid of while preparing to downsize, but do not know their exact value. Apple Tree offers free in-home consultations in which they’ll search your home for treasures that will make you money.
