In honor of Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving back to our communities and the charities we care about, we’d like to honor a song released in 1984. This song, “Do They Know It’s Christmas”, created by a charity supergroup named Band Aid was released to raise money for anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia when famine was overtaking the country.
In honor of Giving Tuesday, we invite you to look outside your window to places like Syria, South Sudan, and Somalia overrun with violence and destruction. And peak to your east where Africa holds 19 of the world’s 23 poorest countries where there’s famine, dehydration, and malaria all around. And if you glance about you might notice that 4 billion of the 7 billion people in the world can’t afford protection. So the greatest gift they’ll get this year is life.
In honor of Giving Tuesday, we’d like you to spread a smile of joy!
Here at E.E. Ward, we support places in the Columbus area because there’s no better place to start than right outside your front door. Nonprofits including the YWCA Family Center, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry, and the Eldon & Elsie Ward YMCA are all great organizations in our community where we together channel our efforts to promoting a better world.
We invite you to give your time, spare change, or smiles during this season of giving so that those less fortunate know that it’s Christmastime after all.
