This past weekend, the Hilton in Downtown Columbus served as the destination for many who attended the King Arts Complex 30th Anniversary Gala. E.E. Ward Owners Dominique and Brian Brooks attended this special evening of community gathering and entertainment. As Co-Chairs for the 30th Anniversary Gala, Dominique and Brian volunteered many hours of their time to work with the gala committee to make this King Arts Gala one to be remembered.
With celebrated performers Dru Hill and DJ Spinderella providing entertainment, hundreds of supporters attended this party with a purpose with the goal of raising dollars that are necessary to sustain programming at this near east side gem that is a reservoir of culture, art and expression.
While the entertainment certainly made headlines, the Co-Chairs and host committee of the Gala made a tremendous effort early on in the planning process for the 30th anniversary gala by raising over $30,000 prior to the event.
A highlight of the night was the live auction which took place prior to Dru Hill taking the stage. The crowd in attendance did not disappoint as the auction was a record breaker, the funds raised were double that of the previous record for collected bid amounts from the live auction. With these funds, the King Arts Complex can ensure that the summer youth program will continue to service many children with a robust summer camp.
