On May 10, In Christy’s Shoes held their 10th annual Sole Celebration charity event. In Christy’s Shoes collaborates with nonprofits to provide funds and awareness for programs that support women. These programs target areas like homelessness, unemployment, domestic abuse, substance abuse, human trafficking, and brain cancer.
Sole Celebration combines fundraising and shoe fashion to help raise funds for these programs. This fun-filled evening includes a silent auction of celebrity-signed shoes, a shoe fashion show featuring courageous survivors, and a variety of speakers. Some of this year’s speakers were Yolanda Harris, anchor for WBNS-10TV News who emceed the event, and Vicki Bowen Hewes, CEO and founder of Dress For Success, Columbus. Awards were also given out; Jason Goldberg, America’s Floor Source CEO, was awarded the first annual “Shoeper Hero” award because of his extraordinary support to women in the community.
In Christy’s Shoes was founded in memory of Christy Peters, who lost her battle with brain cancer at age 33. Christy’s twin sister and two of her friends wanted to honor her spirit of giving back and her love of shoes in this organization.
E.E. Ward co-owners Brian and Dominique Brooks joined over 600 guests, a record high number, in attending this year’s Sole Celebration. Sole Celebration was held in a new location this year, taking place in the Signature Airplane Hangar.
In Christy’s Shoes ended up surpassing $1 million raised to give women access to resources after Sole Celebration. Columbus Mover, E. E. Ward is a supporting sponsor of In Christy’s Shoes, as well as the provider of logistics services for Sole Celebration. E.E. Ward commends the organization for its dedication to giving back to the community.
