6 Week Pre-Move Checklist
If you’ve found yourself preparing for a move, but aren’t quite sure what you should be doing ahead of time, E.E. Ward is here to help! Our moving services and pre-move checklist can help to make your move a stress free one.
Things To Do 6 Weeks Before Your Move:
- If you are moving at your employer’s request, verify what expenses and responsibilities are theirs and which are yours.
- Contact the IRS to find out what moving expenses might be tax deductible (especially if your move is due to a new job or employer relocation).
- Obtain copies of important records such as those from doctors, schools, and accountants. Take this opportunity to also ask for referrals.
- Make a list of the people, subscriptions, professionals, and other important contacts that you will need to notify of your move and change of address.
- Start taking inventory of all the possessions you will need to move. Take this time to clear out clutter, donate items to charitable organizations, or make some money through a yard sale. Additionally, once you have selected a moving company, your moving consultant should be able to guide you through this process.
